 The 5 Oldest Car Companies Apart From Mercedes-Benz:


Mercedes-Benz is and it will always be the first car manufacturer in the world although the company was founded in 1883. There are older companies who didn't start with automobiles and we are going to reveal them today.



1: Peugeot

Year: 1810


The company started as a family steel and coffee mill company within that year. In 1830, it entered into human transportation by being a bicycle  manufacturer and exporter until 1894 and 1895 it started manufacturing cars. The company is indeed one of the most important automobile companies in the world.

The Company is currently owned by PSA Group; a company that are into on automobiles and other related products.












2: Opel

Year: 1862


Opel like Peugeot, didn't started with automobile. It started as a sewing machine company that year before releasing their first car in 1899.

The company is now owned by PSA Group along side with Peugeot but it was owned by General Motors. The company is also into Motorsport.











3: Skoda

Year: 1896


The company first started in 1896 as a human powered land vehicle with one or more wheels also known as Velocipedes.

It started manufacturing cars in 1905 and trucks after the first World War. The car later became a subsidiary of Volkswagen and it is the most used car in the Czech Republic.











4: Land Rover

Year: 1896


Land Rover has been owned and brought by many companies and been through a lot of names. Its first name in 1896 was Lancashire Steam Motor Company (LSMC). 

The company is currently owned by Jaguar and India's Tata which the acquired the company in the early 2000s.. 

 








5: Renault

Year: 1899


The company was established by Louis, Fernand and Marcel Renault with Louis being the main engineer in the company while his brothers being in the business section. Their first car Voiturette 1 CV used already made engine before the company started manufacturing their own engines 4 years later.
