 Tems becomes the first Nigerian female artist to win a Grammy.



Nigerian artist Temilade Openiyi also known as Tems becomes the first female artist from Nigeria to win Grammy awards.

In the Grammy that took place on the 5th of February, she alongside American rapper Future received awards for the best melodic rap performance by future's single "WAIT FOR U".



Tems who won two BET awards last year by collaborating with Wizkid and Justin Bieber on the remix of "Essence" and also being the best international act. She became one of the hottest singers worldwide.


Before joining the industry in 2018, she was recording and producing her songs in her room before she got signed to RCA records. After her hit "Damages" she got a lot of collaborations but after the release of "Essence", she got an international recognition that even made her be featured on Drake track from Certified Lover Boy "Fountains" in 2021.


It was not so long after when Future featured her and Drake in "WAIT FOR U" it was a track on Future's "I NEVER LIKED YOU" released in April 2022. Future sampled her song "Higher" in her debut EP and then blended it into R&B with rap and the song was well mixed by producers FnZ and ATL Jacob.

This song will make it Future to win his first Grammy Award since 2019 and Tems her debut.
