New scams and criminal tactics criminals are now using: Part 2

On my last post, I talked about internet scams and how to prevent it from happening. Now today, I'll be talking about some criminal tactics criminals uses to catch victims and do their common crimes like kidnapping, robbery. Read and learn carefully because these tactics are very tricky and it occurs unknowingly. Specially if you are living in areas with high crime rate and high rate of poverty, subsidy, oppression and corruption. 

Before I proceed with the tactics, I have to advise you to avoid talking to strangers, especially in areas where there are high levels of crime and recession. Everyone living in that area are going through very difficult times due to low minimum wage or unemployment, oppression and pressure from family members.  So they are finding any means to make money in order to keep to the standards of the successful ones and if a stranger comes to you and you have a bad instincts about him/her, use common sense and leave the scene. The people who you can approach and be approached to is who have a good instincts and don't have that character of a criminal or a hoodlum.

1. Desperate stranger who is begging for help. 

This one is quite similar from the advice above, but it has gone far and more advanced as many people have fall victim from this tactic. The tactic is getting worse as those changes the format of the scam changes everyday.

How it works. 

 The Desperate Child/Elderly: if a child or a Elderly person stops you, asks you that they are going to a specific address and they beg you to take them to that address because they are afraid that something will happen to them or they are lost, DO NOT TAKE THEM THERE. Because if you do take them to that address you will become a victim for armed robbery or kidnapping. A criminal is actually waiting for you to either to give them your belongings, to take them to the nearest ATM or take you to their hideout.

How to prevent it.

1.When you come across those people, make sure you take them to a nearby security personnel so they can take them to their final destination.

2. Just encourage them to go there by themselves or tell them a simple excuse so that they won't bother you like "I'm in a hurry" or "I'll come back". This simple excuses will prevent you to avoid being a victim. 

3. Do not stop by and help anyone at night. Once it is dawn, do not talk to anyone and go home. Is at night most cases happens and it is very important to avoid them at all cost 

The man that is looking for direction: if a man comes towards you and asks for direction but he asks you his purpose of his journey that he is a businessman that have very valuable goods and he is looking for someone he can trust so that he will deliver the goods safely. If he tells you to accompany him to where the goods are, DO NOT GO THERE. There will be criminals waiting for you or in most cases, he will show you a very valuable product or show you a product that works with the criminal's magic trick that will make you to bring out your money and make trade with him without you knowing it is fake and a scam.

How to prevent it.

1. Tell him that you don't know the direction. This will make him to not interfere with you and prevent him to convince you about his business. 

2. If anyone approaches you and tries to talk to you in the street, ignore the person. The roadside is not a place for chit-chat. 

3. If he tells you that story about his business and wants you to see his goods, do not go. Just tell him that you are not interested and try to leave the scene. 

2. Fake Gun tactic.

Now almost everyone have fallen into this particular tactic and it is the common one all criminals has been using in order to collect money from people. but today I will expose ways to avoid this particular tactic. 

Fake gun tactic or Gun-with-no-bullet is the tactic most criminals uses to rob people knowing it is not a robbery,  it is just a common scam where people have been victims on it.

How to know If the criminal is using a real or a loaded gun.

Time is what criminals use in order for them not to be caught. A real armed robber is not afraid of wasting time because if the police arrives, they will shoot as to distract the police to catch them. They will make sure they get what they want before they escape. But a fake armed robbery will hurry you up to surrender your belongings and if you resist to give them or make a scene, they will forget about you and runaway in order to avoid arrest. So if you come across these people, you will know who you'll give up your money to.

How to prevent it. 

1. Anyone that shows you a gun on the waist, is a fake gun. Try to use common sense and take the person in a open street and make a scene 

2. If you come across a robber, convince him to follow you to your home. Tell him that your belongings are at home. A armed robber will follow you but will take him to the nearest police station. Make sure you make a scene so they can come out and see the situation. 

NB: ensure you know your surroundings and you know your community before you use these prevention tips. It is the easy way in order for you and your loved ones to be prevented by armed robbery or other common crimes.
